How to INSTALL DJANGO ON WINDOWS 7?

‘Django’ was one of the popular Python framework, which can be used to create beautiful dynamic website from scratch. Write less and do more that is the frameworks mean to. You don’t need to start from the beginning, Django will take care of that.

How to get my copy of Django?

Well, it is a free framework free of cost, you can download and use Django 1.6.5 or later along with Python 3.3 or prior version on Windows/Linux/Mac or on almost any Computer OS.

Installing Django on Windows 7 and later

Make sure that you have latest Python version installed on your computer. You can download it from Python.org. Extract the Django .Zip/.tar file, using Winzip or 7zip (preferably C:/, root directory).
Setting Python paths on windows will let you run it from any drive, learn how to.
Let’s install the Django, issue the following command using Power Shell or command prompt (Run->PowerShell).

C:/> CD django1.6.5
C:/>django1.6.5> Python setup.py install

And it will run the python script for installation. All file required will be automatically copied to the Python Lib\site-package folder securely. After the process you can safely delete the extracted folder from the C:\ drive.

Installing Django on Linux

On Linux you have prebuilt Python on it, so no need to install it separately. Just extract Django .tar file and run the setup script.
Verifying the Django installation

Run the following on Python prompt

>>> import django
>>> print (django.get_version())

Will result in displaying the current version as (if everything went right)
1.6.5

That’s all

How to use common folder paths in C#

Reading files from application path may be one of key requirement of any application. Actually we can place many place you love to have, on a installation machine there can be restriction as well.

Like wise in a Windows system, installer may want to put apps and other files to Programfiles. This folder intended to work with executable,configuration files etc. You can’t programmatically create new folder or files in Programfiles folder, which may require some admin rights. So where we kept those documents and other data ?

It is wise to store such files on Application data folder or even on your Document folder. For reports and other stuffs Document folder is enough.

Access Special Folders

We can use the Enironment.SpecialFolder to access the App data and Documents and also can fetch path to those folders using GetFolderPath method of Environment class.

datapath = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder
.ApplicationData);
reportPath = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.
SpecialFolder.MyDocuments);

the first line will get the location of C:\Users\manoj\AppData\Roaming and the second will show the Document folder path .

Access application path

How to access application/executable path in C#. This can be done using Application.ExecutablePath and the GetFolderPath method

 Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath);

Remove OEM Recovery Drive letter in Windows 10

Branded PC like HP/Lenovo used to set recovery partition[Windows 10/7], probably with drive letter D/E/F etc. Sometimes there are applications which always work with specific drives. In such cases when you try to change OEM partition, the effort may fail.

 OEM partition is designed for system recovery or factory restore. It allows users to easily and quickly restore the system to the original state when system failure or system crash occurs

I personally suggest removing the drive letter from the OEM part, this becomes another troublesome job indeed. With DiskPart command you can remove drive letter of volumes.

2018-01-05_204602

Enter cmd command(Window + R) and Run button

Type diskpart on your command prompt

Type List Volume

Choose the OEM voliume with select Volume [volume#]

Execute Remove letter [Drive Letter]

If you are too lucky the OEM drive will disappear from My computer/My Pc. and the drive letter is available for use.

How to change default storage in Windows 10

By default Windows 10 will store your Documents/Pictures /Music /Video on default drive, that user/libraries. Usually it will be on Windows’s installation drive, C:\.

But Windows 10 let you move the storage location in a new desired drive.

For changing the default location of the new Documents you will create in future, go to Start- Settings – System – Storage and change the Document drive C to a desired drive.

Windows will automatically create a user folder with document sub folder for keeping your new documents.
Next time you hit Ctrl + S / Save button on MS Word it will automatically locate the new Document folder.

Keep it simple and clean

Mount disk image in Windows 10 without third party tool or disc

Most of the installation software come with ISO disk image which you need to burn into a disc (CD/DVD) or USB ,then use the disk to install them using the media.
But Windows 10 has a different option to do the installation directly from the Disk Image using the Disk Image Tool.

When user right the click the Disk Image (Disk Image Tool), Microsoft Windows let user choose the Mount command and will bring the setup directory. So you can easily run the setup and install the software without a media or burning software.

As in the Windows XP/Windows 7/Windows 8 and 8.1, the newest addition to Microsoft OS array, Windows 10 also support this feature.

Let’s learn how to map a drive in Windows.

Turn the network Discovery on

First up all, in order to get access to the networked system, you need to turn on the network discovery. This can be done by changing  Advanced Sharing Settings. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings  and tun on Network Discovery, so that the network can be easily identified.

How to create a boot-able USB in Windows

Windows is my favourite OS since the Windows 7 edition. Usually we install most of OS from CD/DVD ROM. What about an USB or an SSD? You can do install Windows 7/8 from a boot able USB/Pen drive, but simply copying all CD contents to USB doesn’t work at all.

There are many programs which can reincarnate USB into bootable USB. But I suggest do it like an expert with some simple command.

First Step

Connect your device to a Windows installed system/PC also connect the USB want to use with a primary slot. We need at least 8 GB for installation purpose.
We are going to format the USB, make sure all the necessary data is backup from the storage device.

Preparing the USB with command prompt

Launch the command prompt with Admin privileges( Run -cmd and press enter) and  type c:/windows/system32 and issue the DISKPART command.  Now you have two command window.
Now list all disk partition with DISK LIST and identify your partition number, go to my computer and check volume size if had a confusion. The size will be 7534 MB for the 8 GB USB and I have disk with no 1.
Select the partition by issuing select disk [Disk #] command here it is SELECT DISK 1  for my computer, it may vary depending on the hard disks of PC you are using.
Now clean the disk. Issue CLEAN  command and make a new partition using CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY and make new partition active with ACTIVE command

Second Step

Need to format the newly created partition with the format command. FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK. It will take some time to finish the process. Have a tea …. lol
Now we need two commands which let you go to the finalize step , ACTIVE and EXIT command (you will be automatically exit from the diskpart utility), don’t exit the command prompt.

Final Step

Go to your My computer and load the Windows installation DVD  and not the drive letter of DVD and US , suppose I have letter  ‘E’ for DVD and F  for USB.
Now the command prompt look like C:/Windows/System32>, OK ? lets make the bootable records follow these steps (issue following commands)
  1. E: CD BOOT and repeat CD BOOT until the prompt changed to E:/BOOT> (‘E’ stands for DVD Drive)
  2. Lets update USB Drive ‘F’ with BOOTMGR with compatible Bootcode, issue the BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 F:(USB Drive).
If everything goes right( You will get the message ‘Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes’) , it will be OK for copying complete Windows (7/8/8.1)DVD content to the USB.

How to Boot

Choose  your BIOS feature to make your USB device booting device, the setting may vary depending on the different BIOS. Now you know how to install Windows for USB.

Connect the USB to a computer and restart , boot with USB…
